Explanations of the statuses: (Only licenses with the below statuses will be shown)
- Issued: Application process completed. The license/registration is valid and in good standing.
- Pending: Received application packet and application is in process.
- Renew: Received renewal application packet and application renewal is in process.
- Expired: The license/registration is expired, not allowed to work on expired status. If the agency license is expired, all private investigators and security guards working for that agency are likewise expired from working for that agency until the agency is back in issued status.
- Incomplete: Application packet received, some item(s) missing and/or errors, before application process proceeds that items must be submitted to the Licensing Unit.
- Ready to License: Application is ready to be issued once the additional documents and license fee is submitted to the Licensing Unit.
- FP Reject: Fingerprints were rejected by the FBI or State. A new fingerprint card is required and must be submitted to the Licensing Unit to continue the application process.
Overview
The Motor Vehicle and Licensing Division provides direct service to the citizens of Maui County by issuing new and renewal licenses, motor vehicle registrations, various county business licenses, disabled parking placards, taxi driver permits, dog licenses and bicycle licenses. This division also administers commercial driver licenses, periodic motor vehicle inspections, and the issuance of disabled person's parking placards on behalf of the State of Hawaii.

Drivers Instructor School
Hawaii DMV Now is a self-service DMV kiosk that offers a fast and easy way to renew your vehicle registration.
Online Service
Appointments are reserved for individuals completing a transaction for themselves. If a dealer, fee for service agency, rental car representative or tow companies makes an appointment, it will be canceled upon your arrival and you will be asked to drop off your title and registration work.
